Bosque del Río Tigre

Bosque del Río Tigre, is located on the Tigre River just outside the small town of Dos Brazos on the Peninsula de Osa. This remote location in the Reserva surrounding Corcovado National Park gives the visitor a truly exhilarating sense of the tropical rainforest.
The lodge itself is completely surrounded by primary and secondary forest. We can accommodate up to ten people but rarely have more than four or five people at a time so we are able to maintain a friendly and family like atmosphere. Quality food, comfortable accommodations and the full attention of our staff combined with the spectacular mountain setting will make your stay the high point of your vacation.

Our 31 acre sanctuary includes both secondary and primary forest, numerous trails, creeks and lagoons, a refreshing 50 foot waterfall and a collection of local orchids. We have living in the sanctuary three types of cats, pizotes, wild pigs, poison dart frogs, monkeys and an abundance of birds. The whole area is also one of the BEST spots for bird watching in Costa Rica.

The two story lodge, surrounded by tropical forest is designed for rustic luxury with 4 private rooms, shared baths, community lounging and dining areas, and an extensive reference library on neotropical flora and fauna. The second story rooms are built with open windows on two sides for easy bird watching and better air circulation.

We also offer a small cabin with a private bath. Our kitchen provides appetizing meals in a variety of cuisines. Vegetarian meals are also available.

General Natural History Packages

3 Night Easy Explorer
3 Nights with a 3 hour morning bird walk, an afternoon walk of your choice, a 1 hour walk to our waterfall looking for poison dart frogs and a night walk.

All the below Educational packages include  a 5+ hour hike on un-groomed trails in fairly steep terrain.  Please do not book these packges unless you are physically fit enough to do this hike.

3 Nights with a 5-6 hour rainforest hike through diverse ecosystems including primary, secondary and and riparian forest.

3 night Rainforest Educational Package
Includes: 3 nights, 5 hour forest hike, 3 hour morning bird walk, 2 hour afternoon general nature walk, a 1 hour midday walk to the waterfall, night walk.

4 Night Rainforest Educational Package
Same excursions as above with an extra night

5 Night Rainforest Educational Package
Same excursions as above and a  great trip to the monkey beach with our taxi guide

3 night Lazy Birders Package
Includes: 9 hours of local guiding, 2 morning walks and an afternoon walk

3 night Tigre Birding Package
Includes: 14 hours of local guiding, 3 morning walks of approximately 3 hours each to different locations and 2 late afternoon walks.

3 night Tigre to Mangrove Package
Includes: 11 hours of local guiding plus a road trip to Sandalo.  2 morning walks of approximately 3 hours each to different locations, 2 late afternoon walks and 3 hours of coastal plain birding between the lodge and the mangroves of Sandalo. (see Birding )

4 night Tigre to Mangrove Package
Includes: 14 hours of local guiding plus a road trip to Sandalo. 2 or 3 morning walks of approximately 3 hours each to different locations, 2-3 late afternoon walks and 3 hours of coastal plain birding between the lodge and the mangroves of Sandalo. . (see Birding )

4 night Osa Birding Package
Includes: 14 hours of local guiding, 3 morning walks of approximately 3 hours each to different locations and 2 late afternoon walks and a 5.5- 6 hour Roadside birding trip to Rincon
